Boral TruExterior™ Trim Becomes First Exterior Trim Product To Earn “Cradle To Cradle®” Certification

ROSWELL, GA. (October 25, 2010) – Boral® Composites Inc, an independent, wholly-owned subsidiary of Boral USA, announced today that TruExterior™ Trim has been Cradle to Cradle CertifiedCM – Silver by McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC).

Cradle to Cradle® Certification is a multi-attribute eco-label that assesses a product’s safety to humans and the environment and design for future life cycles. Unlike single-attribute eco-labels, MBDC’s certification program takes a comprehensive approach to evaluating the sustainability of a product and the practices employed in manufacturing the product.

The materials and manufacturing practices of each product are assessed in five categories: Material Health, Material Reutilization, Renewable Energy Use, Water Stewardship, and Social Responsibility. SAIC Awarded $11 Million Contract To Deliver Composite Building Material Manufacturing Facility

Company to Design and Build A New “Green” Facility for Boral Composites Inc. in East Spencer, N.C.

(McLEAN, Va.) Sept. 21, 2010 -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI] announced today it was awarded a new prime contract by Boral Composites Inc. to design and build a composite building material manufacturing facility. The contract is valued at more than $11 million, and the project is scheduled for completion in June of 2011. Work will be performed by SAIC’s wholly-owned, design-build subsidiary, The Benham Companies LLC. Design work will be performed in Oklahoma City, Okla., with construction performed at the new facilities site in East Spencer, N.C.

Boral Bricks Inc is the largest manufacturer and distributor of clay brick in the United States. The new Boral Composites facility will be located on property adjacent to Boral Bricks’ current East Spencer, N.C. site, and will meet the United States Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) standards, minimizing energy use and conserving other resources. The facility will manufacture a line of exterior building products made primarily of recycled and rapidly renewable materials.

“Adopting new ‘green’ technologies such as this will help further the global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices,” said J.T. Grumski, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. “We look forward to strengthening our relationship with Boral, and delivering a quality plant that will enable them to manufacture a line of exterior building products, using recycled and renewable materials.”

This new project builds on SAIC’s prior work for Boral. Most recently, SAIC completed the design and construction of a 295,000-square-foot Indiana plant – the largest brick manufacturing facility in the U.S. SAIC received the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) 2009 National Excellence Award for the design and construction of the LEED Gold certified facility.

Boral Composites, Inc. Breaks Ground On New

Operation to bring new jobs to Rowan County

ROSWELL, GA. (Sept. 9, 2010) – Boral Composites Inc., an independent, wholly-owned subsidiary of Boral USA, broke ground today on a new manufacturing facility located in East Spencer, N.C. The Rowan County facility is scheduled for completion in September 2011, and when fully built out will employ up to 25.

In attendance at the ceremony were Keith Crisco, secretary of commerce for the state of North Carolina, Carl Ford, Rowan County commissioner, and John Cowan, mayor of East Spencer, N.C.

Boral USA currently operates a brick manufacturing facility in East Spencer and other facilities in Charlotte, N.C. and Lake Norman, N.C. “We look forward to furthering our business relationships with our valued partners, including the North Carolina Department of Commerce, North Carolina Community Colleges System, Rowan County, RowanWorks, town of East Spencer and Duke Energy,” said Brian Below, general manager of Boral Composites Inc. “Based on our history, we have found North Carolina offers our company a desirable geographic location to efficiently service our customers, as well as access to a skilled and able workforce.”

Boral Composites Inc. To Build Manufacturing Facility In East Spencer, N.C.

ROSWELL, GA. (Aug. 4, 2010) – Boral Composites Inc., an independent, wholly-owned subsidiary of Boral USA has announced plans to build a manufacturing facility in East Spencer, N.C. adjacent to Boral’s existing brick manufacturing facility. When fully operational, the Rowan County facility will employ 25 people.

“We are excited about this new opportunity in North Carolina as it is consistent with our overall US growth strategy,” said Mike Kane, President and CEO of Boral USA. “Instrumental in our efforts to bring jobs to this region were our partners at the N.C. Department of Commerce, N.C. Community Colleges System, Rowan County, RowanWorks, the Town of East Spencer and Duke Energy.”

The plant will be built to the United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) standards, minimizing energy use and conserving other resources. In addition to being built to LEED standards, the plant will manufacture a line of exterior building products made primarily of recycled and rapidly renewable materials.
